When a dress is hanging from a 20-foot thrift store wall, it tends to appear a lot smaller than it actually is. Unfortunately, by the time I retrieved it, it was too late – I had already fallen in love. I asked the sales clerk for a few pins and grabbed a belt to try and cinch my way into a somewhat fitted look for the dress, but it just wasn’t happening. Bulges everywhere, linebacker shoulders, the worst. I still purchased it. I left knowing full well I’d vow to alter it and knowing full well that I never would. It would be cast away into the back corner of my closet marked “Yeah…I Can Fix That”. Today I somehow tricked myself into actually sewing this baby up. I think I might like it.
The point: if while thrifting, you fall in love with a pattern, material or general shape of a $4 dress, don’t let the size deter you. I would say my sewing skills are amateur at best and this took about 6 songs to complete from start to finish. But do me a favor…don’t zoom in.
trรจs chic!

Char, I know! I was just thinking about what a pain in the butt I was in that class and how much it resembled a sweat shop. We would be in there til sundown sometimes! Haaaahahaha! Good times.
