Meeting With Santa

Last night we took the boys to meet Santa Claus who happened to stop by the Bass Pro Shop in Pearland just to hear what Braxton and Caleb want for Christmas. Weird. They were super pumped about this little soiree. So pumped that they didn’t even seem to mind that their little tummies were empty the whole time. Their ill-prepared parents scheduled this outing to take place just before dinnertime which would have been perfectly fine had they also considered the fact that 600 other Houston-area children had a thing or two to say to Santa as well. So we waited, and waited, and 45 minutes, 30 gummy worms, 2 reese’s buttercups and one ice cream sandwich later, they saw him. And it was glorious. They literally sprinted from the front of the line into Santa’s outstretched arms. It was as if he was an old friend they hadn’t seen in years. I heard them tell Santa all the things they wanted (monster trucks, helicopters, cars, trains, etc.). They also informed him that they had been very good boys. I was tempted to take the other knee and explain all the reasons this statement was untrue, but I thought it best to just stay behind the camera. Next year. This was their third encounter with Santa and definitely the most enjoyable to witness. See for yourselves :).

Some last minute coaching from Daddy. So, complete strangers (woman on the left) taking pictures of your chid: flattering or frightening? Her husband seems to think the latter.

Apparently, my kids were the only ones who asked Santa to pick them up and let them pet the reindeer-the entire time we were there waiting, we never once saw it happen. So we apologize, Santa, for the countless “can I pet the reindeer” requests that surely followed when we left.
